In the village of Goričice, which lies above the southeastern edge of Lake Cerknica, there is only one more house with a thatched roof, in which we have arranged a unique holiday home for up to five people. The Dormouse house was built at the end of the 18th century and is well preserved and also protected as a cultural monument of local importance. Through a wooden, richly decorated door, we enter a hall with natural stone floors and a high vaulted ceiling.
The living area of the house consists of a central area with a brick oven, a dining area and two beds. There are three more beds in the smaller room (one 170 cm long). In recent years, we have thoroughly renovated the house and turned it into a pleasant holiday accommodation, where we wanted to preserve the identity of the old farmhouse. In the part of the black kitchen we arranged a modern kitchen, and in the part of the basement we had a smaller bathroom.
Dormouse house is an excellent starting point for exploring Notranjska. There are many hiking trails and natural attractions in the area, about which you will get the best hints from hosts Jana and Paul, who are also local tourist guides. Pets are also allowed in Dormouse house at an additional cost.
