The marked trail follows the legend of the creation of Lake Cerknica from Šteberk to Karlovec Castles and runs entirely along the lake.
Join us on a traditional hike by the largest Slovenian lake (when it's full, of course). From the remains of Šteberk Castle on the eastern part of the lake to the western edge of the lake, to the place where Karlovec castle once stood. According to the legend about the creation of the Lake Cerknica, the prince of Šteberk walked (and later rowed) to reach the princess of Karlovec.
You will be surprised by the secrets of the karst world hidden by the edge of the intermittent lake.
We will start a longer hike (21 km) at 9:00 a.m. in front of the remains of the Šteberk castle in Podšteberk next to Lipsenj by Lake Cerknica, and on a shorter one (8 km) two hours later, at 11:00 a.m. from Lake Cerknica (Dolenje Jezero village).
Duration of the hike:
21 km – from Podšteberk (Lipsenj) 6 hours
8 km – about 2 hours from Ribiška kot (parking at the Dolenje Jezero parking lot)
On Sunday, the parking lot by the Dolenje Jezero village will be free, so participants of the short hike can leave their cars there and walk to the starting point.
Difficulty:
Medium difficulty from Podšteberek (due to the sheer length of the hike), easy from Dolenje Jezero.
Equipment:
Mountain shoes, hiking poles, suitable clothing for this season, drinks and food for the duration of the hike

15,00 € per person - longer hike (21 km)
10,00 € per person - shorter hike (8 km)
