Along this four-kilometre circular walking trail, you will find signs with interesting information about the different parts of the trail, the flora and favna you will see during your walk and, last but not least, the 14 crystal springs that fill Lake Cerknica.
There, the river of seven names also comes to light as the Obrh, which a few kilometres later becomes the Stržen and then, after leaving the Notranjska Park, becomes the Rak, the Pivka, the Unica, until it comes to light as the Ljubljanica in Močilnik near Vrhnika.
In the first part of the Trail of Springs, there is a 100 year old Maklen tree, which, due to its great age and exceptional size, is classified as a natural value and therefore protected.
There are also the remains of a water pumping station which, until 2014, supplied drinking water to the inhabitants of Laze pri Gorenjem Jezeru from one of the springs of the Laško Studenec, which never runs dry.
The Obrh spring was once the site of a sawmill, for which a plan was drawn up in 1883 by the owner of the Oštir farm. However, due to his untimely death, it never came into operation. His descendants still keep the plan for the sawmill at home.
A map of all the hiking trails in the mystical land of Lake Cerknica can be purchased at the Visitor center Lake Cerknica for € 2,00. Hike through our very special piece of the world.
The path is marked with icons, which you can follow on the markings on the pillars throughout the trail.
