The Jezerski hram Museum is located in the village of Dolenje Jezero and represents the cultural-informative experience centre. It introduces visitors of Lake Cerknica to the natural and cultural heritage of the area.
The main part of the museum is the living model of Lake Cerknica, which depicts the geographical aspect of the valley. Expert explanation gives you a detailed insight into the formation and draining of the lake, as the model is made precisely as the lake in nature. Demonstration of hydrology on the model is accompanied by sound recordings depicting life by the lake.
Through multimedia presentation, you experience the lake in all seasons – you get to know how karst nature and life by the lake change throughout the year.
The ethnological park Cerkniško polje comprises more than 100 items and just as many stories by the locals who designed special tools that helped them survive life by the lake. Therefore, the museum features equipment for old-style fishing, old skates, ice-cutting saws and the drevak boat, which holds a special position in the facility. The exhibit features a workshop with old tools, where you can see the process of the making of the boat. The genuine drevak boats are on display as well; they are made in the traditional way by the museum's owner, Vekoslav Kebe.
The museum is an excellent starting point to further explore the lake in nature – you are kindly invited to discover the secrets of intermittent Lake Cerknica.
