Accessible tourism at the Visitor Center
  • Accessible parking

At the Dolenje Jezero parking lot, in front of the Visitor center Lake Cerknica, there are three parking spaces reserved for people with disabilities

  • Accessible entrance

People using wheelchairs can access the ground floor of the Visitor center Lake Cerknica with the help of a stairlift with a platform. There, they can watch a 15-minute film about Lake Cerknica, listen to stories about its formation, learn about geology and hydrology, and take part in a quiz about the lake. Admission to the Visitor center is free for people with disabilities upon presentation of a valid disability card.

  • Adapted sanitary facilities

The sanitary facilities in the Visitor center are fully accessible for people with disabilities. They are located on the ground floor of the building.

  • Additional offer

At the Visitor center Lake Cerknica, all content is accessible to blind and partially sighted visitors via Braille or audio, as the material can also be listened to.

People using wheelchairs can explore the first part of the trail Drvošec, which follows a flat macadam road (if their wheelchairs are adapted for such a surface). From here, they can view part of Lake Cerknica (or sinkholes if the lake is dry) and read information about Slovenia's largest lake and its surroundings along the way.

The didactic points at the 'Kuharca' observation platform (the first platform on the trail Drvošec) are adapted for blind and partially sighted visitors. Descriptions are available in Braille, and there are engaging activities such as identifying tree bark by touch and listening to the sounds of the lake.
